Photo Hunt Saturday - Sweet

This week's photo hunt theme is sweet. I thought about posting pictures of our frequent trips to the ice cream shops this week (or as Moe says, "go get i-crem at the pet shop") but I was too busy eating my ice cream and trying to stay cool that I have no pictures. And while ice cream certainly is sweet, I decided to go with pictures of cakes. The following cakes were my kids birthday cakes. As for their cakes, we try to think outside the box and do original cakes.
EINEY
Einey's 1st Birthday

Einey's 2nd Birthday

Einey's 3rd Birthday
She ended up with two cakes because a friend made one by surprise

Einey's 4th Birthday

Einey's 5th Birthday (Friends)

Einey's 5th Birthday (Family)

MEENIE
Meenie's 1st Birthday
I forgot to buy/make her a cake this year and called Husband in tears the night before. He went the next day and found this cake which matched her theme. Funny story is 2 year old Einey insisted her sister wanted a chocolate cake for a month. When we cut into the cake, we found out it was.... chocolate.

I love birthday cakes. I think they are one of the great highlights of a birthday celebration. All those cakes are beautiful!

My son is turning 4 in 3 weeks and he has requested for a Justice League cake. Last year he had Thomas the Train.

Thanks for sharing and visiting my blog.

I haven't had a really good cake for a long time. These look yummy! The Strawberry Shortcake reminded me of a lady around here who literally makes a white cake with strawberry filling in between the layers and a light whipped cream frosting on top... she puts the flowers and extra decorations on as well, but the cake is truly to die for!

Let me just clairify, I didn't make all of them. Some I brought a base from the store and added the top the way I wanted, other earlier ones were made by a few friends as gifts and more recent ones by my MIL.

I did make by myself the cake in a bucket, Curious George and Jay Jay the Jet Plane. I added the toppings to the Little People, Nemo, Strawberry Shortcake and Jungle cakes ( all purchased from the store with my choice of background). My MIL made the snowflake, Ruby the orange cat,and the poodle/dog. The store made the butterfly one. Different friends made the two my little pony one's and the fish one. The wedding cake and the rectangular MLP cake were made by the same person.
