New Camera

Okay guys, I need some suggestions. We are actually finally looking to get a new digital camera. I want a SLR type.

I look at everyone's pictures and have been dreaming of a new camera for so long! We are currently using a Sony 2.oMB that we got over 5 years ago! Don't get me wrong, it's seen us through many events. The birth of all three girls, school plays, weddings and adventures! It's time for an upgrade. We do alot of nature photography as well as people. So what are your suggestions?

I always think camera purchases are exciting.

If you are starting from scratch (no slr lenses currently in your possession) I might look into Cannon. Blurbomat wrote a really lengthy and exceedingly detailed review/explanation of why he went from Nikon to Cannon, so you might want to ckeck that out.

I had a series of Nikon SLRs before I went digital so I bought myself a Nikon d70 and I've been happy for the most part. If I were buying one for the first time now, I'd get the D80.

Do you have a link?

The two we are thinking mostly are the Canon Rebel and Nikon D70 or D80.

So basically like you recommended!

I'd suggest anything Fuji. Personally, I use the Nikon D70s, but I would've loved to have invested all of my money into more Fuji cameras. Just know that whatever brand you buy, you will have to stick with it if you plan on buying lenses and flashes and filters and the like. For instance, a Nikon lens will not fit a Cannon camera. So you have to really make sure that the camera is for you before you buy it.

Over a year ago we bought the Nikon D50, which was fine for what we needed at the time. But if I had the money I would upgrade to the D80, like toyfoto recommended. That camera has me salivating.
