The perfect Christmas Portrait

The last few years, like many other people, I have gone to photo Christmas cards. I like seeing how my friends and family member's kids have grown and love sharing how my kids have grown.

Every year, I try to get the pictures taken in early fall, so that they can be mailed out the day before Thanksgiving. My plan this week was to take the kids out today and try to get "the perfect picture". Unfortunately, Meenie still wasn't feeling up to it today. With it getting dark early in the afternoon, by the time the girls are home from school and changed and we drive to the location, the sun is already setting. So that leaves me with Tuesday as my next viable day., when the girls have another day off of school. I've already got the outfits and accessories. I plan on dong some with them in their Corky coats as well.

This year, I've also enlisted the help of a friend who is a graphic designer to help design the rest of the card. I have some ideas floating around and then just need to figure out what sizes I want and where I want to print them.

What about you, have you started thinking about holiday cards yet?

i'm so ashamed of the person i've become. Christmas cards are all i think about. Two days after Christmas I start thinking about the next one.

Yes, I'm always on the hunt for photo ops with my three guys for holiday cards. I'm sure you know how hard it is to get a good one!

Toyfoto - Thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out! I try not to think about it until fall - they change so much from the beginning of the year until the end!

Stimey - Yes, I have that problem. I've thought about adding the dog in as well, but I think that borders on insanity. Maybe I'll have my friend draw the dog on the card....

We're deciding family or just kids, this year. We've always just done the kids but our family in far off places, who we don't see ever, keeps asking to see *all* of us. I think it will just be kids, again.

Also, I love expanding each year on an album of photo Christmas cards we've received since the turn of the century. It seems we all started procreating around that time. It's fun to see how all the kids have grown. I keep it in our living room for people to flip through. If I were the crafty-type it would be a gorgeous scrapbook, but I'm not, so it's just a photo album, but I love it :)

I love that idea! Maybe that will be my Christmas project -mounting all the past photo Christmas cards! I keep them all in a box, but maybe if I put them in a scrapbook that I took out for the holidays?

Mine were in a drawer until 2 years ago and then I decided all those cute kids and families deserved more respect :)
